The USC Trojans faced a tough defeat against the UCLA Bruins, losing 81-62, marking their fourth consecutive loss at a critical point in the season. With their NCAA tournament hopes dwindling, USC’s struggles were apparent, especially in the second half where defensive lapses and missed offensive opportunities plagued the team. Donovan Dent of UCLA dominated the game, scoring 30 points and making key plays that kept USC at bay.

USC’s freshman standout, Alijah Arenas, struggled to find his rhythm, failing to record a field goal until late in the game and finishing with only 10 points. The Bruins effectively contained Arenas, disrupting USC’s offensive flow. Turnovers were another issue for the Trojans, committing 10 in the first half, which allowed UCLA to control the pace.

Chad Baker-Mazara was the sole bright spot for USC, scoring 25 points and providing much-needed energy and offense. Despite his efforts, the team shot only 35% from the field, failing to match UCLA’s efficiency. With a record of 18-10 overall and 7-10 in conference play, USC now faces a critical matchup against Nebraska, knowing that time is running out to turn their season around.
