President Donald Trump is set to deliver the first State of the Union address of his second term on Tuesday, focusing on the economy, immigration, crime, energy, and national security. Over the past year, Trump has promoted his achievements while frequently deriding the legacy of his predecessor, Joe Biden. However, many of Trump’s claims are misleading, and these are expected to feature in his address.

The U.S. economy has shown resilience during Trump’s second term, despite a rocky start. Under Biden, GDP grew impressively in 2024, outpacing all but Spain among wealthy nations. Yet, growth decelerated in 2025 amidst job market challenges influenced by tariffs and technological advancements.

Trump’s immigration stance remains firm, though often based on questionable assertions. Crime data does not support his claims of increased crime due to immigration. Moreover, Trump’s exaggerations about securing $18 trillion in investments lack substantiation.

In energy, Trump touts coal while undermining wind power’s efficiency, despite evidence to the contrary. His controversial election fraud claims persist, despite extensive debunking through recounts and audits affirming Biden’s 2020 victory.

Trump’s boasts about significant crime reductions and conflict resolutions are similarly overstated, reflecting a pattern of embellishment that characterizes many of his public declarations.
